- A pair of dressier pants, chinos, or tights and a skirt
- One or two long-sleeved button-up shirts or blouses
- Layer one piece of clothing (lightweight sweater, cardigan, or sweatshirt)
- Wear a lightweight jacket (such as a jean jacket, shirt jacket, or light bomber)
- A comfortable pair of walking shoes
- A nicer pair of shoes for dinner, drinks, and the theater.

NYC Summer Packing List:
NYC in summer can be a lot of fun, but can also be a lot of grubby. We are in the midst of the summer concert season, patio dining season, drinks by the water, and picnics in the park. By the middle of July, however, the city has become a swamp.
It is possible for underground subway stations to reach temperatures of over 100 degrees. There will be sweat on your brow. Make sure you pack lightweight, breathable fabrics if you want to stay cool(ish).
In the daytime, shorts, flowy skirts, linen pants, and the like are best; jeans are too sticky. You’ll sweat through your shirts and undergarments by noon, so pack a few extras. You should also wear sunscreen, sunblock, and a hat.

Autumn is temperate during the day but can be cold at night during October and November. The best way to stay comfortable is to dress in layers, preferably in fabrics that regulate your body temperature, such as merino wool.

NYC Winter Packing List:
New York winters aren’t as bad as they seem. There is no doubt that it is cold. Yes, it will get dark at 4:00 p.m. Yes, you will step into a puddle of slush that reaches your calf.
As well as twinkling lights strung up throughout the city, there are also roaring fireplaces, hot toddies, and ice skating to look forward to during the winter months. Dress appropriately for the weather in New York City during winter.
